Emily Kate Warren is a professional makeup artist and hairstylist who lives a bicoastal lifestyle between New York City and Los Angeles. A makeup artist since her grandmother’s oil painting lessons took a new route, Emily's professional career didn’t begin until she moved to New York City in 2002. While working for Latina magazine and prestigious artistic talent firm Art + Commerce, she began freelancing as a makeup artist and hair stylist. The work kept coming during her stint as a beauty assistant at O, the Oprah Magazine and throughout her four years as a beauty and fitness editor for CosmoGirl magazine. In 2007, Emily decided to give up her staff position to focus on her career as a makeup artist and freelance beauty writer.
Today, Emily’s portfolio reflects her personality—fun, experimental and sophisticated. Her work can be seen in Allure, Lucky, Fitness, Family Circle, Women’s Health, Health, Prevention and more. She also works in film and television. A backstage favorite, Emily has done makeup for dozens of fashion shows, including Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Monique L’Huillier, Rebecca Taylor and Narciso Rodriguez. She also does special occasion makeup for private clients and has worked with celebrities, including Katherine McPhee, Yoko Ono, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Abigail Breslin, Alyson Stoner. Emily has shared her expert beauty advice through various media outlets such as The New York Times, Allure, Self, Marie Claire, Oprah and more. She is a regular columnist for youbeauty.com. She can also be found giving video makeup tutorials for websites like prevention.com, voguetv.com, joyus.com and nylon.com.
